Champion athlete Althea Gibson, who broke racial barriers in both tennis and golf, is profiled. After becoming the first person of color to win a tennis Grand Slam tournament at the 1956 French Open, she went on to win both Wimbledon and the U.S. Nationals back-to-back, in 1957 and 1958. The film features archival material and interviews with those who knew Gibson, including Billie Jean King and former New York City Mayor David Dinkins.
