What to Watch Tonight: The Series Premiere of Public Morals, the Return of From Dusk Till Dawn, and the Season 1 Finale of Another Period

What to watch on Tuesday, August 25...

SERIES PREMIERE, 12:01am Pacific, CW Seed
Vixen
Megalyn Echikunwoke voices multi-talented DC Comics hero Mari McCabe, who can channel the abilities of any animal, in this animated extension of the Arrow and The Flash universe. (And hey, the Emerald Archer and the Scarlet Speedster may just pay a visit to their newest justice-seeking colleague.) The web series will comprise six five-minute-long episodes.

9pm, CBS
Zoo
The CBS press release for “Murmuration” ends on the phrase “terrifying army of birds,” in the worst case of burying the lede I’ve seen in a long time. Mitch and Abraham are the targets of that avian assault, while Jamie reaches out to a fellow journalist to bring Reiden’s shady dealings to light in a plotline that suffers from a distinct dearth of bird armies.

9pm, Syfy
Face Off
A Foundation Challenge based on the Rorschach inkblot test presents an opportunity for immunity. Later, the artists pair up and design two makeups: one for a gatekeeper, and one for that which is being gate-kept.

9pm, TNT
Rizzoli & Isles
“Fake It ‘Til You Make It” sends Jane and Maura to the Left Coast when a murder victim reveals ties to a case in L.A. Back in Boston, Angela and Korsak arrange a double date with Kiki and Ron.

SEASON 2 PREMIERE, 9pm, El Rey
From Dusk Till Dawn
At press time, El Rey hadn’t made any information about the season premiere readily available, other than the fact that it 1) exists and 2) will air at 9pm/8pm Central. Thanks to the crack What to Watch Tonight Research Squad, we can also safely assume the episode will involve vampires in some capacity.

SERIES PREMIERE, 10pm, TNT
Public Morals
Edward Burns created and stars in this 1960s-set cop drama centering on an NYPD vice squad. “A Fine Line” opens the series with Officer Terry Muldoon (Burns) dealing with his gangster uncle and training a new recruit. Michael Rapaport and Elizabeth Masucci also star.

10pm, FX
Tyrant
Aided by a timely sandstorm, Barry leads an assault on the Caliphate’s military base in “Desert Storm.” (Y’know what would really help him there, though? That’s right. Terrifying bird army.) Elsewhere, Leila reconsiders her allegiances as the balance of power shifts, and Molly pulls out all the stops to save Barry’s life.

10pm, USA
Playing House
A wounded Mark crashes with Emma and Maggie in “Employee of the Month,” even as Maggie reflects on the professional road not taken.

10pm, MTV
Scream
Dubious that the true culprit is in custody, Emma teams up with Piper to do some digging of her own in “The Dance.” And what better place to search for answers than at the school’s Halloween shindig? Why, her sleuthing cap won’t even look out of place in that setting.

10pm, BET
Real Husbands of Hollywood
“When Kevin Met Sally” finds Kevin inviting Salli Richardson along to the poker game after a chance encounter. But he gets more than he bargained for when her husband, Dondre Whitfield, challenges Kevin to a contest of wits.

10pm, NBC
Hollywood Game Night
Paul Scheer, Amy Smart, Constance Wu, Randall Cobb, Randall Park, and Bobby Moynihanare the contestants. In a shocking twist, all six humans will be on the same team this week, going up against a terrifying army of birds!

SEASON 1 FINALE, 10:30pm, Comedy Central
Another Period
As Lillian and Beatrice scramble to nix Frederick’s nuptials in “Modern Pigs,” Peepers marshals his resources to prevent Chair from bringing down the Bellacourts.
