What to watch on Tuesday, October 20...
The Mindy Project
“Road Trip” sends Danny and Morgan on a journey to California, but along the way they make an unexpected stop. After all, it’s not every day you get the chance to visit the World’s Largest Vat of Hickory Barbecue Sauce.
8pm, The CW
What’s this? Captain Cold captured? Team Flash joining forces with Golden Glider? Can the Scarlet Speedster help the resplendent Rogue rescue her abducted brother—or is there more to this villain-napping than meets the eye, in the form of Snart patriarch Michael Ironside? Tune in to “Family of Rogues” to find out—same Flash-time, same Flash-channel!
A pharmaceutical lab comes under siege in “Lockdown,” and one of the hostages is Abby. She remains unfazed, though. Getting taken hostage goes with the territory when you’re a main character on a long-running procedural. Heck, she’s been taken hostage at her dry cleaners on three separate occasions.
Jimmy makes up for missing Edie’s second birthday party by throwing a shindig at the restaurant in “Deadbeat.” But the fun is interrupted by Sara’s brother, who remains miffed at Jimmy for bailing on her way back when.
SERIES PREMIERE, 8pm, Myx TV
The Doll Life
A behind the scenes look at Japanese “dolly style” fashion brand Dolldelight opens with the head designer leading an audition for new models, who are definitely real human people and not actual dolls possessed by demonic spirits that will kill us all in our sleep.
Stewart and Deb suspect their new friends are only drawn to Dean’s fame, while Dean fails to understand why Claire very much isn’t drawn to said fame, in “Little Mitchard No More.” (Postponed from last week, because Fox likes to jerk me around.)
SEASON 3 PREMIERE, 9pm & 10pm, BET
Being Mary Jane
Mary Jane is rushed to the hospital after her accident, with her family right behind in support, in “Facing Fears.” Then in “Louie Louie,” Mary Jane’s cabin fever is only the beginning of her troubles when Cedric divulges his plans, and SNC hires a charismatic new replacement.
SPECIAL EPISODE, 9pm, ABC Family
“When Darkness Falls” sees Camille preparing for her annual Halloween bash, even as the team investigates the suicide of a potential kidnapper whose kidnapee is still M.I.A. Wait, what? That’s pretty grim for a special Halloween episode, Stitchers. You couldn’t have done something about the ghost of a spooky old sea captain?
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Coulson’s and Rosalind’s teams hunt for an Inhuman who’s taking out other Inhumans, having apparently mistaken “Inhuman” for “Highlander.” Meanwhile in “Devils You Know,” May suspects that Hunter is getting carried away in his quest to nail Ward.
9pm, The CW
In “Real Dead Housewife of Seattle,” Liv and Clive must figure out who hired a hitman to dispatch a wealthy woman, whose brains give Liv a taste for white wine and designer apparel. Elsewhere, Liv and Ravi learn that Peyton is back in town.
9pm, WGN America
Frank learns the true reason for his captivity in “Fatherland,” beyond the show possibly saving some early-season budget on what could be a bottle episode.
Chanel takes bold action to keep herself out of the killer’s crosshairs, elevating Zayday to power as a result. Meanwhile in “Seven Minutes in Hell,” the Kappa Kappa Tau ladies throw a slumber party that’s almost certain to end with a pillow fight where one of the pillows is made of machetes.
SEASON 1 FINALE, 10pm, TNT
The west side war reaches its bloody climax in “A Thought and a Soul,” by which I mean that the climax will be violent, not that I am cranky about it and British. In less lethal affairs, Muldoon takes Christine out on the town and Bullman’s feelings for Fortune deepen.
First there was the Manhattan Love Story reunion a couple of weeks ago, and now “Personality Crisis” brings in Jennifer Carpenter’s old Miami Metro colleague Desmond Harrington as Rebecca’s on-the-DL boyfriend. Is Limitless writing fan fiction about its stars’ previous shows? (Jennifer Garner’s agent: Expect a call.) Anyway, the actual episode centers on Brian discovering a secret about Rebecca’s late father, the revelation of which could land him in legal jeopardy.
An internal investigation puts Boden’s job at risk in “A Taste of Panama City,” while Severide struggles to adjust to his new role and new boss. Elsewhere, Casey digs for crucial evidence against Nesbitt, Dawson makes a change, and Hermann tries to maintain peace with Molly’s new neighbors.
The Bastard Executioner
An innocent man is bound for the chopping block in “Behold the Lamb / Gwêl yr Oen.” As a consolation prize, his next of kin will receive a copy of the Bastard Executioner home game, fun for ages 8-28 (28 being super old back then)!
10:30pm, Comedy Central
Political cartoonist Thomas Nast takes on “Boss” Tweed’s Tammany Hall machine, and journalists Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland race to travel around the world in under 80 days. Guest performers Michael Cera, Ellie Kemper, Natasha Leggero, and Jason Alexander are mostly excited by the prospect of a drunken hot air balloon ride.
