Rather than send reality TV couples to a tropical island, perhaps Nine could consider sending them to a landfill. The big news from last night was not just the failure of The Last Resort, but the instant success of ABC’s War on Waste.
The Craig Reucassel show pulled 759,000 viewers -enough to win the 8:30pm timeslot (save for 7:30 overruns). The show was trending at #1 on Twitter, and was even trending yesterday before its premiere.
MasterChef gave away its first Immunity pin of the season and scored 1.05m viewers for its efforts -its biggest audience since its season launch. That helped push TEN to second in network shares last night, ahead of Nine. House Rules followed with 812,000, up on last Tuesday.
But The Last Resort fell to a new low of just 383,000 viewers, fourth in its slot and nearly beaten by trains on SBS. Sadly that impacted Love Child which fell out of the Top 20 to 460,000 viewers.
ABC’s new Ask the Doctor drew 512,000.
There was also another Aussie battle taking place on multichannels with 9GO!’s new Meet the Hockers (98,000) beaten by 7mate’s Outback Truckers (178,000).
Seven Network won Tuesday with 28.6% then TEN 24.0%, Nine 23.2%, ABC 17.5% and SBS 6.7%.
