TV Wednesday: Brothers face double trouble (Canada)

TV Wednesday: Brothers face double troubleNick Lachey from A&E’s Lachey’s Bar. Matthias Clamer/A&E

The TV universe is constantly expanding, and new channels and shows vie for attention just as much as old favourites. Here are the best bets on the box.

Lachey’s Bar

Problems arise when Nick and Drew each book parties on the same night in the bar’s private event space, in a new episode called Businessmen, Babies and Bachelorettes. Not wanting to lose either of the lucrative bookings, the brothers scramble to figure out a way to keep both groups of guests happy. The episode is followed by the season finale, in which Nick begins to consider permanently relocating his family to Cincinnati. (A&E)

Ice Road Truckers

As Polar Industries pushes its drivers to the limit, Art Burke has to cross one of the longest winter roads in the world. Elsewhere, in this new episode titled Icy Grave, Todd Dewey, the company’s top driver, must dig himself out of mountains of fresh snow or risk a dangerous night in freezing temperatures. His rival, Darrell Ward, transports a load over a newly opened road that is eerily littered with abandoned trucks that appear frozen in time. (History)

Home Free

For much of the summer, couples have been working on creating the best residence possible for others — and the winning duo is declared in the season finale, Dream Holmes. The “Holmes” in question is series host Mike Holmes, who has tried to guide the contestants with his expertise — leading to tonight’s big revelation of the contestants who listened the most and acted on what they learned. (Fox, HGTV)

Last Comic Standing

This is it: the five last comics standing vie for the title in The Finale, the season’s concluding episode. Judges Roseanne Barr, Norm Macdonald and Keenen Ivory Wayans have a final chance to weigh in on the humorists’ performances, with host Anthony Jeselnik steering everyone through the hour that ends with the choice and declaration of the winner. Ghost Adventures

Edinburgh Manor may sound like an inviting locale in Scotland, but it’s actually a 150-year-old former home for the incurably insane in Scotch Grove, Iowa. In this repeat episode, paranormal investigators Aaron Goodwin and Zak Bagans, and their team, explore this location where 100 deaths occurred within its walls, and a dark entity known as The Joker is said to haunt the hallways.
