The earliest days of Ye Olde Englande are reimagined in this historical drama adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s book series The Saxon Stories. In the premiere, Uhtred has his inheritance and lands seized by his flunky of an uncle, and later winds up seized himself by Danish forces.

Paul F. Tompkins: Crying and Driving
The comedian muses on wedded bliss, filming a driving scene without a license, and a strange trip to a private magicians’ club among other topics in a set at L.A.’s Palace Theatre.

Movie star Amy Schumer gives sketch comedy a whirl as the guest host. Musical guest The Weeknd has been repeatedly pitching a sketch where everybody’s working for him, but it seems unlikely to make the cut.
