TNT has canceled the series Proof after one season, according to Deadline. The two-part Season 1 finale that aired in August will now serve as the series finale for generations to come who watch it on Netflix.
Proof starred Jennifer Beals as a Seattle-based surgeon who investigated mysteries behind and beyond death thanks to the urging and funding from a billionaire (Matthew Modine) suffering from cancer. The series dabbled in the supernatural and covered topics like reincarnation and near-death experiences. It was executive produced by Kyra Sedgwick, who is married to Kevin Bacon, who starred in Flatliners, which was also about exploring topics relating to life after death, so there's your unnecessary connection of the day.
Deadline notes that Proof was watched by a respectable 2 million people by the time it went off the air, but it skewed old and out of the coveted 18-to-49 demographic, which would explain why I barely even remember this show existed.
