Season 3 Episode 3
The FBI chases Liz and Red to Iowa, where they've targeted the world's largest agribusiness, which launders money for the Cabal.
The next move in Red's (James Spader) plan to force the Cabal to clear Liz (Megan Boone) takes them to Iowa, where the world's largest agribusiness, Verdiant Industries, is being attacked by a militant group of disenfranchised farmers. When Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) doesn't appear at the rendezvous, Red knows something is horribly wrong and reluctantly puts Glen (Clark Middleton) on the case. With the FBI one step behind them, Liz calls Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) to tell what she knows about Verdiant's Cabal connections and ask for time to clear her name. Ressler doesn't mention that Tom (Ryan Eggold) has resurfaced, volunteering his services on Liz's behalf. After threatening to break Tom's arm, Ressler relates the incident to Cooper (Harry Lennix), who tracks Tom to Wing Yee, the Chinese restaurant where Liz used to contact him when they were cheating on her ex. Although he despises Tom, Cooper knows he has the juice to do what needs to be done to find Karakurt and help Liz.
It turns out Verdiant's CTO Susan Hanover hatched a diabolical plan to create a pestilent global food crisis that only Verdiant can avert, worth trillions. Armed with proof that Liz has shared with the FBI, Red confronts Hanover, demanding she send a message to The Director (David Strathairn). "Tell him I'm coming," Red says, then takes a call from Glen, who reports Dembe's abduction. What Red and Glen don't know is that Mr. Solomon (Edi Gathegi) has abducted and tortured Red's associate Mr. Vargas (Paul Reubens) in hopes of forcing Dembe to reveal Red's whereabouts...
