Season 1 Episode 4
"Who Is It That Can Tell Me Who I Am"
Wozniak sends Harlee on an errand that reveals new information about the big job and leads the FBI to incriminating evidence.
On the way home from her late-night rendezvous with Nava (Gino Anthony Pesi), Harlee (Jennifer Lopez) witnesses and then fails to intercept an armed robbery at a bodega. The same evening, Wozniak (Ray Liotta) crashes into a parked car on his way home from a hookup at a pool hall. Harlee visits Wozniak at the hospital, where he apologizes to Harlee for pulling a gun on her and asks for help with the big job. He needs her to pick up an empty van and move it to his storage unit's parking lot.
Harlee fills Stahl (Warren Kole) in on her task, but when she gets to the van, she finds a false bottom filled with counting machines and explosives. Furious, she calls Wozniak, but he insists the van was supposed to be empty. When Wozniak confronts Pomp (Michael Esper) about the explosives, he says they're for a controlled explosion that will act as a diversion for their operation. Harlee hides the explosives and counting machines to cover for Wozniak, but Stahl and Chen (Annie Chang) eventually find them when they break into Wozniak's storage unit.
Meanwhile, Amber, the waitress Tess (Drea de Matteo) attacked after finding out about her husband's affair, shows up at the police department to file a report. Espada (Vincent Laresca) talks Amber down with promises of an apology from Tess. After Tess gives her angry apology, she and Espada kiss.
The guilt-ridden Loman (Dayo Okeniyi) tries to toss his gun off a bridge and then attends the funeral of the man he killed. The team hazes him to bring him back in line, pressuring him to shoot himself, which he refuses to do, thus proving his desire to live. Later, he and Harlee track down the bodega robbery suspect. When the suspect's battered girlfriend refuses to let them into her apartment where the suspect is clearly hiding, Harlee tells Loman they can break in without a warrant if he heard a cry for help. Harlee asks if Loman understands what she's saying, and he does: he's in.
