Netflix's complicated freshman drama Sense8 launched on the streaming service earlier this summer. A select number of cast members of the show took the stage alongside its producers at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Tuesday. When asked about the potential future of the series, which hails from the Wachowskis (The Matrix), producer J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5) said that they are "still awaiting word" from Netflix, but are "cautiously optimistic" about the prospects of a Season 2 renewal.
Straczynski also said the producers have a five-year plan for the series, which follows several different characters from around the world who begin to share experiences with the other men and women for mysterious reasons they don't understand. Unfortunately, Straczynski refused to go into detail about what that five-year plan looked like or where the show might go should Netflix be kind and pick it up for future seasons.
Sense8 has been a divisive series, with those who watched it either loving it, hating it, or still trying to figure out what it's about.
