SCANDAL Casting Shakeup!!

When Scandal returns this fall for season four, one character will look very different. In fact, we should probably just start calling the First Daughter the Second Daughter. Get it? No? Well, you will in a second... Shonda Rhimes' hit ABC drama has just recast the role of President Fitz and First Lady Mellie's daughter Karen Grant. Mary_mouser_commercial_headshot_400Body of Proof's Mary Mouser will now play the role previously portrayed by Madeline Carroll, E! News has confirmed. And based on the tweets Carroll and her former onscreen mom Bellamy Young sent each other two days ago, there's no bad blood between the former co-stars! After Carroll tweeted a heart emoji at Young, Young replied, "Love you right back, Maddie. Always & forever." Cue the awww's. Carroll's Karen Grant was first seen on Scandal last season when she came to visit the White House while on break from boarding school, but she is unable to continue playing the role in season four due to scheduling issues. Mouser will first appear in an episode scheduled for October, as one of the two surviving children of the First Family since Rowan had the First Son Jerry Jr. assassinated in the season three finale.

Carroll isn't the only Scandal star not returning for season four. Columbus Short, who played OPA gladiator Harrison, exited the series this past spring after he was arrested and charged with battery after an alleged bar fight in March. "At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today," Short said in a statement. "I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas."
