Ricky Gervais Is Hosting the Golden Globes Again

Someone somewhere thinks that Ricky Gervais is a capable Golden Globes host because the actor and comedian will be back to host the awards show for the fourth time, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Monday.

Gervais hosted the show for three consecutive years before announcing in 2012 that he would never do it again. "I've told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again," he wrote on his blog. At the time, he had been the first to host since 1995 when John Larroquette and Janine Turner emceed the show, which historically hadn't had a host.

The comedian was criticized over the course of his hosting tenure for offensive jokes that took jabs at Elton John, Justin Bieber, the cast of Sex and the City 2, and more. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler then took over the gig for their own three-peat, to decidedly more positive reviews

The 73rd Annual Golden Globes will air on Sunday, January 10 at 8pm on NBC.

Do you think Ricky Gervais should host again? Had you hoped someone else would take the stage?
