Max Branning is in a world of trouble and the latest pictures suggest Jake Wood's year out may have something to do with his character in prison
Max Branning will be sent to prison for Lucy Beale's murder.
* WARNING: Contains spoilers and theory on how Max ends up in prison
The latest EastEnders spoilers show that DI Keeble and DS Cameron Bryant appear to have got their way and Max is behind bars.
Since the shocking end to last Friday's episode, which saw Max hand himself in to Walford police, there has been even more twists and turns to this ongoing storyline.
Many thought Ben was going down for Lucy's demise with the police ready to throw away the key - following what happened to Heather Trott, even Phil had it in for his own son - but now, it's Max in the firing line.
These pics show Max will be spending even more time behind bars.
In these latest pictures, Max is behind bars and begging his sister Carol to find some money for a good brief.
But how has Max got there?
Viewers have seen the former used car salesman have several battles with DS Cameron Bryant - who was DC Emma Summerhayes ex-partner - before the Max era.
The two have had a well-documented feud before and after Emma's unfortunate passing, with Cameron, played by Glen Wallace, even warning Max not to go to the funeral.
It's fair to say, Bryant has been waiting for the Walford favourite to slip up.
In Friday's episode, Bryant even winked when Keeble was charging the Albert Square resident.
But how far will he go to send his nemesis down?
When Lucy, played by Hetti Bywater, got a nasty cut on her head, Max was the culprit.
Lucy was furious at her dad Ian for not showing an interest in her business and she arrived at the car lot seeking a little Max-shaped comfort.
Soon after she was on the floor bleeding after a lovers spat. Soon after that she was dead - killed by Bobby beale.
Where is this evidence from?
With the police looking for Jay Mitchell but desperate to send down Max and Phil still on the warpath and punching his way to the right answer, it's only a matter of time before the truth outs.
Or at least the latest twist.
