Former Prisoner star Maggie Kirkpatrick has been sentenced to 100 hours of community service over a 12-month period and will be placed on the sex offenders’ registry for eight years, following yesterday’s guilty verdict in an abuse case.
The 74-year-old actress was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault and one charge of committing a gross act with a person under 16.
Lawyers for the NSW actress told the court on Thursday Kirkpatrick is eligible for a community corrections order and prosecutors didn’t disagree.
“Mrs Kirkpatrick is entitled to the benefit of 31 years without similar matters,” Mr Hannebery told the court.
Kirkpatrick had earlier denied all of the charges.
A pre-appeal mention on September 11 was listed in the County Court of Victoria, just over an hour after the 74-year-old was sentenced to an 18-month community corrections order for the assault on the girl, who was aged 14 at the time.
It is understood the mention next month will hear the grounds of the appeal, as well as whether it applies to her conviction or sentence.
