Trevor Noah, you have your nightly teammate set through the end of next year. Comedy Central has handed out a renewal to The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The deal keeps Larry Wilmore's late-night talk show on the air at least through the end of 2016.
The news comes just less than two weeks before Comedy Central relaunches The Daily Show with new host Trevor Noah. Now the network has its late-night team set for the foreseeable future, and more importantly, through the inevitable circus that will be the 2016 presidential election.
The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, like Comedy Central's other late-night shows, mixes humor and politics in a talk-show format. The Nightly Show, which just celebrated its 100th episode, adds a focus on social issues, particularly race. Wilmore was previously a correspondent on The Daily Show and is an executive producer on ABC's Black-ish.
