Did you know that three people die every day in need of an organ transplant in the UK?
Channel 5 is raising awareness for the need for more people to join the Organ Donor Register with The Gift of Life, which airs from tomorrow (October 21) at 10pm.
Promoting the program, a group of people role-playing as hospital patients - dressed in surgical gowns and pushing saline drips - were pictured taking to the streets of London.
The Gift of Life follows the real-life journeys of patients who require life-saving organ transplants.
Filmed at the Institute of Transplantation at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, each episode focuses on patients as they sit and wait, hoping that the organs they need will become available before it's too late.
"The Gift of Life is a beautifully produced and inspiring insight into the stories of patients and their families who face organ transplantation, often as their final chance," said Channel 5's factual commissioning editor Guy Davies.
"We hope this series encourages more people to join the Organ Donor Register, and our activity today is part of our wider campaign designed to raise awareness."
