Bridal wars on Free to Air

It will be bridal bouquets at 10 paces next week when Free to Air Networks flood our screens with more weddings and in-laws than ever.

Nine, in particular, and Seven are headed down the aisle for a ratings war two weeks before survey officially begins on Sunday February 12th.

Nine is screening Married at First Sight across three nights next week, airing Monday – Wednesday, It is pinning its hopes that viewers will connect with its 20 singles, against the might of My Kitchen Rules and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

Endemol Shine Australia have produced this season for the first time (previously a Nine internal production), adding more tweaks to the format to work as stripped content.

But Seven will also launch controversial series Bride and Prejudice next week, debuting at 9pm on Monday after its MKR launch.

The series sees couples contend with disapproving family members, unhappy with their partner choices over ethnicity, religion and sexuality. It is bound to ignite reaction.

Nine is also maintaining its nuptials theme next week with primetime movie replays Bride Wars, Monster in Law and My Big Fat Greek Wedding following MAFS.

That’s not counting TVs other wedding-themed shows on multi channels: The Bachelor (US), Millionaire Matchmaker, Age Gap Love, or Undressed on SBS.

Meanwhile ABC returns Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery, The Weekly With Charlie Pickering andStop Laughing This is Serious next week.
