The creator of Suburgatory is prepping her TV return.Fox has handed out a hefty pilot-production commitment to Emily Kapnek comedy Front Man.Kapnek will pen the script and executive produce the comedy via her Warner Bros. Television-based bannerPiece of Pie Productions. Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman are also set to exec produce via their studio-based Brownstone Productions shingle. Should the comedy move to a formal pilot order, Banks would direct (pending availability). Renate Radford, senior vp television for Brownstone, is also on board to exec produce.
For Kapnek, Front Man marks her follow-up to ABC's Selfie, which was canceled last season after only a handful of episodes but finished its run on Hulu.
For Brownstone, meanwhile, Front Man continues its push into small-screen fare following HBO's Billie Jean King biopic, in which Banks stars opposite Paul Giamatti. The company's first digital series, Resident Advisors, premiered on Hulu.
Kapnek is repped by UTA and Jamie Mandelbaum. Banks (Pitch Perfect) is with UTA, Untitled and Ziffren Brittenham.
